How does KPI collect and use information from the site?
Knowledge in the Public Interest (KPI) is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. KPI may collect information from our visitors at several different points on our Web site.
What information does KPI collect?
KPI collects email addresses for the following purposes:
Tell a Colleague - A visitor to our site may choose to use our "tell a colleague" feature to send a short message inviting his/her colleague to visit the site. We temporarily store your email address and the email addresses of te recipients for the sole purpose of sending them this one-time email. We do not keep track of the addresses to which you send the "tell a colleague" email.
Will you share my personal information?
We do not share any personal information that can identify any individual person; however, we may aggregate demographic information with our partners, sponsors, and donors for the purpose of fundraising and promotion.
Does the site use cookies?
The KPI Web site uses a session cookie to control the display of the site. The cookie is stored on the visitor's computer for the duration of the visit and does not persist across sessions. No personally indentifiable information (email address, name, etc.) is collected with the cookies that we set, and accepting cookies while on the KPI Web site will not put the visitor at risk for marketing from other sites. If a visitor opts not to enable cookies, he/she will not be able to use our Web site.
Do you store my IP address?
We use IP addresses to gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
What about the links on the site?
The KPI Web site may contain links to other sites. Please be aware that KPI does not claim any responsibility for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each Web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by the KPI Web site.
Is my information secure?
This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users' information, and we have security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control.
Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our home page so our visitors are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner.
