Bob Bozeman, General Partner, Angel Investors, LLP, has 24 years of management experience in high-technology enterprises, 12 as CEO/President or GM. Bob has special expertise in software, information technology/services and computer supplier industries (including Vetronix Sales Corporation, Altos Computer Systems, and Wang Laboratories). He is the founder of two successful high-tech businesses (Library Systems and Bozemans', Inc.). Bob helped create Angel Investors L.L.P., the venture capital behind Ask Jeeves, Spinner.com, LoudCloud, Google, PayPal and more. He has been involved in early stage development of approximately 100 Internet start-ups.
Dr. Yun-Heh Chen-Burger (Jessica) is a senior researcher in the Artificial Intelligent Applications Institute (AIAI), Informatics, the University of Edinburgh, UK. She is the business manager and technical project leader for several commercial Technology Transfer (TT) projects. Jessica's work includes research, teaching and participating in Knowledge and Technology Transfer projects. She has over 50 paper publications in books, conferences and journals. Dr. Barbara Grosz, Dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University. She is Higgins Professor of Natural Sciences in the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Dr. Grosz's research addresses fundamental problems in modelling collaborative activity, developing systems to collaborate with each other and their users, and constructing collaborative, multi-modal systems for human-computer communication. Before joining the Harvard faculty in 1986, Barbara worked as a senior staff member in the Artificial Intelligence Center at SRI International and as a founder and principal investigator at the Center for the Study of Language and Information. She is a fellow and past president of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence. She holds an A.B. in Mathematics, Cornell University and M.A. and Ph.D. in Computer Science, University of California at Berkeley.
Jane Harper is IBM's director of collaborative innovation where she is responsible for creating programs and tools which enable global teams to collaborate and turn innovative ideas into reality. Prior to this, she led IBM's university relations team where she worked with universities around the world to drive innovative joint research projects and collaborate on critical skills development to feed our talent pipeline. As Director of Internet Technology, Jane was one of the early pioneers in IBM's Internet efforts. Her work is featured in the recent best selling book entitled "Mavericks at Work" as one of 32 maverick stories around people and innovation. As part of the company's diversity initiatives, Jane is a member of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) executive task force. Jane serves on the emeritus board of GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network).
Dr. Gary Hendrix, President of Goodbyte Corporation, a consultancy specializing in Web-based human resources applications. Previously he served as Vice President for Advanced Technology at Symantec Corporation. Before founding Symantec and serving as its first president, he was Associate Director of the Artificial Intelligence Center at SRI International, and Director of SRI's Natural Language Research Program. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Texas, Austin.
Mike Hudack is a co-founder of blip.tv and serves as the company's president and CEO. Mike has spoken at SXSW, Streaming Media West, Beyond Broadcast, the Open Media Developers Summit, TelcoTV and dozens of other conferences and has served as a guest lecturer at NYU and elsewhere as an expert on video, blogging and citizen journalism. He has created and maintained more than a half dozen independent media projects, including warstories:CC, warblogs:CC and the Index of Evil. His independent projects have been covered by the Washington Post, USA Today, the PBS Newshour, NPR and Forbes, among others.
Bomee Jung is a green geek. In her day job as Green Communities Program Director at Enterprise New York, she manages the design, delivery, and assessment of Enterprise's initiatives to improve the energy and environmental performance of affordable housing in New York. Before joining Enterprise, she founded GreenHomeNYC, a nonprofit environmental education organization that promotes green building through volunteerism. Because she spent her first career developing Internet-based applications, she believes that data should roam free. Bomee received a Master in City Planning from MIT.
Yvonne Thayer lives in Atlanta after a career in public education in Virginia. She is Senior Director at the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) and leads their middle grades education initiative and several leadership projects associated with school improvement. She is currently completing her certification with the International Coaching Academy as a corporate and personal coach - specializing in personal and career decision making and problem solving. Part of her work at SREB is to train new school improvement coaches. A graduate of Columbia University, her background in adult education and experience in administration and leadership has enabled her to lead initiatives associated with adult learning, strategic planning, and organizational development.
Henk van Assen is the founding principal and creative director of HvAD. Prior to establishing the studio in 2004, he was an independent designer for more than 10 years. He has worked on and participated in many projects, generally as creative director, ranging from book design to visual identities to signage systems. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, The Netherlands in 1988. After working several years as a graphic designer in Amsterdam, he came to the United States where he received his Master of Fine Arts in graphic design from Yale University. Since 1999 he has been a faculty member at Yale University and is currently a Critic in Graphic Design. Before this appointment, he taught design at the University of Texas at Austin, the School of Visual Arts in New York, and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Additionally, he has lectured at a variety of Universities in the USA and abroad (Canada, China and Mexico).
Nancy White, Founder and President, Full Circle Associates, a communications consultancy, helps non-profits and businesses connect through online and offline strategies. Nancy is recognized internationally for her leadership and expertise in the emerging field of online group facilitation and interaction. She is a skilled online facilitator and coach for distributed communities of practice, online training and education, virtual teams and virtual communities. Her Emmy award-winning communications experience includes KIRO Inc.'s "A World of Difference Campaign", numerous health and social service education campaigns and event marketing. She is a graduate of Duke University.
Roy Williams designs and develops reflective, interactive, online, and knowledge management media for the University of Portsmouth, UK. His current research includes interactive reflective practice, massive open online courses, digital ecologies and complexity, ecological psychology and knowledge management. Previous posts include Prof. of Communication, Visiting Prof. of Education, CEO of the South African broadcasting regulator, and CEO of Sached Trust, an erstwhile national South African educational NGO. He is a founding partner and consultant at w.w Associates in Reading, UK.
